Welcome to my Writing class!
My name is Mrs. Edge and I am looking forward to having you in class this year. In Writing, you will learn the eight parts of speech, figurative language, and traits of writing. You will write every day, and you'll experience reading a lot of good poetry, and works from famous writers as well.
I grew up in a family of five children in the Dallas area. I graduated from Abilene Christian University with a B.S. in Education. My husband, Mark, and I have been married for 30 years, and we have four children. After graduating from ACU, we lived in Argentina, where we were a part of a group of missionaries for five years; we grew to love Latin America and the wonders of that culture. I taught school there, and our oldest daughter was born there as well. Since moving back from South America, we have lived in Brownsville, Winters, and now in Tyler for 14 years. Our family has a German Shephard named Dash, a rescue dog named Shadow, and a corn snake (not too fond of him!). I have been an educator for over 20 years as a homeschool mom, in private and public schools, and I'm now beginning my seventh year at CAMS, a public charter school.
One of my goals for my students is to LOVE AND ENJOY writing as it will be used throughout Jr. High, High School, College, and for the rest of your lives! So, get a composition notebook, a good pen or pencil, and I'll see you in class!
Let the journey begin!
