Welcome to my Webpage!

My name is Alex Brooks, and this is my 2nd year at Cumberland Academy, and my 7th year in education. I am excited to be here! This is my first year at CAMS. This year I get the privilege to be the Dyslexia Intervention Teacher, Academic UIL Coordinator, and 7th Grade Reading Diagnostic Test Administrator. I am wearing many hats this year, but I am excited to work with your child. The program I am using at CAMS for our dyslexia instruction is called Multi-sensory Teaching Approach (MTA) by Margaret Taylor Smith. You will find more information regarding MTA and this program to follow. I completed my training this summer with Kris Smith Educational Services and received certification for both the Introductory (Kits 1-3) and Advanced (Kits 4-7). It is important to note, that MTA is all completed by mastery in reading and spelling in each kit. I want YOU to be just as educated about this program as I am so we can both find the tools needed to help your child with dyslexia be successful.
