CAMS Student Task Force Presents to East Texas Substance Abuse Coalition
On Tuesday, January 23, the CAMS Student Task Force made a presentation to community members that are part of the East Texas Substance Abuse Coalition. These members include the Smith and Rusk County Sheriff’s offices, Tyler Police Department, UT-Tyler Pharmacy school, Walmart Executives, Chick-Fil-A Executives, and many more. This coalition exists to brainstorm ways to keep East Texas safe from alcohol abuse (specifically underage drinking) and drug abuse. The Coalition members invited our Task Force to attend their monthly meeting and explain activities they have done on campus this school year to raise awareness of the dangers of underage drinking. The students were provided catered lunch and had a wonderful time connecting their school activities to the community activities as a whole. We are so proud of their leadership!
